Ch de Vaudieu 2006 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc 17 Drink 2008-10

Straightforward but charming array of stone fruit flavours on the nose with some floral top notes. Quite fine and refined for this appellation – a nod to white burgundy structure. Like the St-Préfert, this would be another good introduction to the style. More refreshing than many.

Ch de Vaudieu (Brechet) 2006 Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge 18- Drink 2012-20

Blackish crimson. Meaty, leathery notes on the nose – very dramatic! Very sweet and yet with quite enough acidity and some particularly fine tannins underneath. Perhaps not one of the longest lasters but a lovely drink. Great balance. Quite sandy soils with 15% Syrah and a little Mourvèdre. Liberty/Old World Wines

Ch de Vaudieu (Brechet), "Val de Dieu" 2006 Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge 18 Drink 2014-26

Exceptionally deep crimson. Concentrated meaty, savoury nose with a lovely thread of liquorice and real juice and energy. Very Châteauneuf – lovely balance and already readable. A worthwhile special cuvée. Sandy soils again, 60% Grenache with equal parts of Syrah and Mourvedre.
